G'day Everybody,
Any help on the following, please email me B/C.
KK
I was given your website by John Kerbishly as I have been trying to trace somebody I knew from HMAS Leeuwin back in 1965. The person I am trying to find is Garry Goodwin (he was a Stoker but not sure what ships). Is there any way I can find out anything as regards to his whereabouts. He was from NSW.
Any info would be appreciated.
Kind Regards
Joy Edmiston

Gammers, just spent the last couple of hours blowing the froth off some coldies with Grumbles before he heads back up top. Mate, your last memories of Thailand sounds pretty much like the last night I spent with Grumbles while we were up there last year, not much has changed there except it's all done a bit slower because we're a lot older.I Remember Willy Coad,Vince,Henry Lawson,Hearpsy & yes Harry & the infamous pickled onions. Living south of CBD & e-mail same same mate

What part of the city do you live, I remember well Tom Dooley and Terry Vine. I remember the week before Terry,s wedding and the time he gave the duty watch Bosun a bit of a touch up which caused a fair bit of grief for me at defaulters.
Down here of the old crew that I am in contact with are Greg Coad, Brian Lawson, Harry Hayes of Blue banner pickled onion fame and Paul Hearps. I get xmas cards from Dave Drane, Vince Chetcuti,Lon Richards and Yergen Sildatke.
I havn't heard anything about that lecherous B Ocka Collins.
Is your home email the same as I can send you some pictures of some of those mentioned.

Grumbles, what I remember of Bangkok was BIll Booth and Pete Taskas asleep in the gutter,Glen Toft falling out of a Bum Boat drunk in his ice cream suit and being washed downs river a fair way before being picked up, the pitch black nightclubs, nude girls dancing and the 3 Mike stokers solution to the pitch black, torches, the beautiful woman and the Golden Temple.

Gammers, no entourage but a lot of good mates waiting to have a cold one in Patong Beach, Hua Hin, Khon Kaen, Kanchanaburi,BangKok and a few more places in between. As for the massages, have a special one or two places I like to visit. You would have forgot what it's like up top, Penrose and I can assure you it's a bit different from the old days but not much, you should get out of Tassie and have a good run up there. The food is great, the scenery is spectacular, the beer is cold, tastes great and a few other things are also still tasting good and to look at.
By rod penrose at Tuesday 09 March 2010
Gammers, how are you mate & thanks for the glowing reference, time has obviously started to erode your memory. Not sure about Bob Flisher,I caught up with a few of the old crew over Xmas in Blue Dooley,Terry Vine & Shammy & Flishers name kept coming up. Would be good to catch up,give me a call when you are heading over.

Grumbles, trying to clone an up top Sheila, now I suspect that would make for a good horror movie probably of "chook sheds" quality.
I suppose you will have an entourage waiting at Bangkok airport with a portable massage table Grumbles?
Having shipped with Rod Penrose I am sure he will be a thorough gentleman and save you from many vices.
Rod I must catch up with you in next time I am in Melbourne if it can be arranged.
Does anyone know the where abouts of a fellow Derwent Stoker Bob Flisher?
By Rod Groombridge at Tuesday 09 March 2010
Brad, me ol' bucket, not there yet!!! still in the land of oz. Thursday morning will be a great time though and I definately wont listen to your advice. So reports of my adventures with Jack will be forthcoming to those who are interested in the near future. First one will be about a wedding that I'm going to (and not mine either) up in the country. Rod Penrose needs a tour guide for the area and his wife is letting him go without her as long as I go with him. Very trusting wife he has. She even left him in my care for two weeks up there and I must add that he didnt even look like letting me lead him astray. catch you all later
By Brad Carter at Saturday 06 March 2010
Hey Jack now that grumbles is back on your door step, you may have to change your address as well.
Sorry I missed you at the air port grumbles,. waste of time really, you never listened to me last time I lectured to you bout the evils of those up top sheilas, now your trying to clone em..

Hi Max,
there were 2 Tulks, one was a mobi by the name of Zeke Tulk, was on the Melbourne with him early 70's, and the other was Friar Tulk, stoker, was on the Perth with him, late 70's, was into guns and old rifles, last I heard about him from a couple of ladies we knew in Newcastle, that he went to South Africa as a game warden after he paid off.
Would like to catch up and say hello to both.
Cheers, Bungy.

G'day Members,
We have over 120 bouncing email addresses! Could members please update their membership profiles with their current email addresses.
I have chosen to contact members through the TOW Log because of this problem, & because if I send a bulk email to all members the host provider will only allow 500 email to go out. This is an anti spam mechanism that I haven't been able to get around (yet.)

Glenys is the wife of an ex kellick stoker and member of this site Billy Herd.
She has a modest total of $500 to shave her head but I'm sure some here can help her beat her target
If you can please help her pass $500

Hi All, It is my unpleasant task to advise of the passing of ex-CPOMTP3* John (Darby) Munro at about 0730 this morning after a long illness. John has been in and out of hospital for sometime although for the past 5 weeks, has rarely been home. John is survived by wife Gwen, daughter Terri and 2 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are yet to be organised, it is likely to be Monday 22 February but I will confirm that when it is known.

Hi Kerry
My name is Wayne Ferguson and I’m trying to locate former stokers who were members of the original crew on HMAS Labuan (LCH) and was wandering if you or your members may be able to assist. The period was 1973 - 74 and their names were:
LSMTP Bob (Davo) Davis
MTP (Sheepdog) Shepherd
MTP (Tich) Warne
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Today is the anniversary of the Voyager/Melbourne collision.
They have no grave but the cruel sea
No flowers lay at their head
A rusting hulk is their tombstone
Afast on the ocean bed
We Will Remember Them
